o holy night!
New top address for Christmas shopping in New York: The Beekman Hotel in downtown
Until recently, the Financial District did not have a particularly good reputation among New Yorkers. During the day, business is done here, but for the after work drink with friends one prefers to meet uptown. But the financial district is currently undergoing an image upgrade: a whole range of exciting new restaurants, bars and hotels are taking over the business district of Manhattan. The most prominent is the five-star "The Beekman", just a stone's throw from the Brooklyn Bridge.
The historic building from 1881 was one of the first skyscrapers in the city. Today the nine-story hotel inspires with a spectacular glass-covered atrium. Designed by interior designer Martin Brudnizki, who is also stylistically responsible for the Soho House Group, it houses 287 rooms and suites, which create a cosy atmosphere with lots of velvet, gemstone colors, vintage persian carpets and wood. We recommend the in-house restaurant "Augustine", which is furnished in brasserie style. The kitchen serves mainly French dishes such as foie gras and steak tartare, but also American classics like Dry Aged New York Strip or Augustine Burger. Double room from 363 Euro. thebeekman.com
