In 1913 it was none other than Coco Chanel who for the first time in fashion history included a striped shirt in her collection. Until then, this pattern had only been seen on sailors and marines. The pattern became the darling of the fashion industry, even made it as "banker stripes" to the shirts of Wall Street and can still be seen today in infinite variations on the catwalks.
