Like the Glencheck, the houndstooth pattern comes from Scotland. Until after the 2nd World War, this pattern was only visible in male tailoring. Christian Dior revolutionized women's fashion in 1947 with his "New Look" and finally integrated houndstooth into dresses and skirts.
