Winter wardrobe saver: Leopard print
January is by far the toughest month in fashion. It’s too early to get overly excited for new spring pieces and fashion week's street style spectacles from Paris, Milan, London and NYC are still over a month away (we're counting down the days...). So, what’s a fashion fanatic to do to keep the momentum going in her wardrobe? Go for leopard! The animal print came roaring back on the fall runways but in reality it’s pretty much a new neutral, which means it works all year round.
Two of tff’s most coveted designers, Hamburg-based Anni Carlsson and Moscow’s Helen Yarmak went wild with leopard this season, not to mention Paris-based Cruz Bueno’s aptly named (and delicately crafted) “Leo” bag.
Leopard may be a new neutral but it's one that works best with other neutrals. Pair it back with a solid block of a neutral colour like basic black, camel, cream or even denim to keep it modern. If you are feeling extra wild, you can wear with another print, albeit one that matches back in shade. You want the look to say "classy" not "over the top."
