Jewellery Gift Guide: How to Give the Jewels of her Her Dreams
Giving a jewellery designer a piece of jewellery as a gift isn’t the best idea. “Nobody dares to offer me jewellery,” says Munich-based jeweller Saskia Diez. But the designer, whose sculptural contemporary pieces have been spotted on the earlobes and wrists of stars ranging from Felicity Jones to Kylie Jenner, is the perfect person to give advice on how to shop for the best gem for your beloved this holiday.
For men looking to shower the women in their life with something sparkly, Saskia recommends they start paying attention to the way she dresses, her current jewellery habits plus her length and colour of her hair. Also pay attention to when she compliments other women on their jewellery. This should give him a good idea of what works for her personal taste and lifestyle.
One area to think about is what the piece of jewellery represents and what you would like to tell her with it. “Jewellery is personal, emotional, a sign of love and eternity,” says Saskia. While she considers a bracelet to be the safest gift to give in the sense of guaranteeing happiness, earrings on the other hand is “an advanced gift. This is usually gifted by someone who has sense of style, a vision of look.” A ring though is on an entirely different level and is deeply personal. “A ring is a very intimate gift that says ‘I love you’ in an eternal way,” says Saskia.
When Saskia gifts her own gems, she has one rule: never overwhelm. “I look at the person and think about what I think would look great on them and with what piece they would feel good.”
If you’re overwhelmed by choice, keep in mind that silver is on trend this season, says Saskia. Otherwise rose gold is an excellent option. And remember that Saskia Diez jewellery definitely has a certain effect on women. “In my jewels, I want woman to feel sensitive and strong, sure and tender.”
