Around the waist it goes: Reasons why you need a belt bag in your life
What used to be known as the bum bag or even worse, a fanny pack, is now called the belt bag - sounds much more glamorous, don’t you think? Now the question is, does it also look more glamorous? Indeed it does! The Belt Bag lends a polished style to an oversized silhouette when wrapped around an XXL blazer. A Belt Bag can also make your girly dress look more nonchalant. Trust me, it’s a cool girl update for your everyday look. And I bet you’ll be buying one by the end of this article.
You know that awkward situation when you’re at a restaurant and there’s nowhere to put your bag, so you put it between your legs? Not with a belt bag. Dropped your phone in the toilet, because it was in your back pocket? Not with a belt bag. What about when you’re in the subway holding on to the railing with your purse sliding down your shoulder? Again, not with a belt bag.
Another advantage with a belt bag? You get a two for one: a belt and a bag. Admittedly, you’re not going to fit your entire house in this bag. It’s not a gym bag, but you can definitely carry your necessities with you. As you can see, the pro list could go on forever. Really, the only downside is that it’s associated with the 80s fanny pack, which is something you don’t want to admit to owning - unless you’re a mom of four kids at Disney Land.
This bag has got to be the most practical bag in 2019 and great for the on-the-go business woman, too. It’s not only for 20-year old bloggers. Wrap it around your waist with all of your daily essentials, coffee in one hand, phone in the other and voilà. They truly go with most outfits and add shape and definition. Who knew a bag could be so flattering?
Speaking in practical terms, the belt bag solves all of your travel problems. How many times have you stood in line at the airport security frantically rummaging through your purse looking for your boarding pass - if you’re still old-fashioned and prefer the printed version? Even if it’s on your phone, your boarding pass is close by and easy to grab. This also solves the my-phone-is-ringing-and-now-I-have-to-look-for-it-and-hope-I-answer-it-on-time situation. Depending on the size of your belt bag, even your liquids could fit inside and you wouldn't run the risk of your underwear falling out when opening your carry-on trolley. A belt bag is a traveler’s best friend!
Now it’s pretty clear that I’m a fan of the belt bag, but there are a few things you might want to consider, if you want to look sophisticated and not like that Disney Land lady I mentioned earlier. Go for leather. Regardless of whether a nylon belt bag makes you nostalgic about your 20-something year old past - it was an embarrassing look and we don’t want to revisit it. A leather one is much more refined and grown-up (because you’re a grown-up, so do me a favor and get the grown-up bag). The larger the size, the more it’s going to look like a bum bang instead of a I’m-a-boss-lady-bag. So, keep it as small as you can - you don’t want it to scream Mom-bag.
For an extra style factor, sling the belt bag across your chest to add unique dimension to your look.
So tell me, are you already in line buying yours yet?
