You’re doing great business, whether it is in San Francisco, Shanghai or Moscow. People like your work and they might like to get to know you better, but you’ll need to change your look. You’ll need it quick and you better be prepared.
The presentation went well. It’s not the usual “thank you, we’ll give you call”. There is conversation about the project, or about how you like San Francisco, Shanghai or Moscow. It seems like your client wants to know the person, they’re going to work with for a while, a bit better. For these occasions they may have a little yacht or a country club membership. They’ll ask if you want to come and spend some time aboard or in the countryside to relax, have a little drink, enjoy a lunch and just talk a little bit. “Tomorrow at 11 a.m.?”, “Fine, we`ll are looking forward to seeing you”.
That sounds casual and it is casual, but it is still business. You want to be dressed properly, right?

The CEO is invited to a glamorous launch-of-a-super-new-product-event of another company. He has to go, but is not very eager to. He enjoyed the company of you and your team and thus asks you, if you would like to join him and his team, unexpectedly. Sure, you’re going to come along. But, hey, realistically this is a heavy red carpet situation. You have to do “bella figura”, no matter what your original travel-wardrobe was.
