I bought a crazy fashion piece. What now?
It mostly happens when we're abroad, on vacation or at home on a Saturday when we feel that we have to escape from the usual.
It is then when we buy this far out greek, african or south american ethno-piece. Back at home, we wonder how that could have happened. And how, where and when we could ever wear that piece. Don't worry, everything will be fine.
Don't be ashamed. It is totally understandable. You're on vacation, you finally have some time to spend. You`re under the influence of the sun, the colors, the patterns, the shape of the landscape, the summer and the architecture around you. You liked this blouse or the dress with these prints and then you're back home, back in your well-known environment, you unpack your travel-suitcase and find these pieces you brought along and think: „Oh my god, what was I thinking?”
The same thing may happen to you at home. On a weekend after an exhausting week of work. Saturday, the day you will not be responsible for things. A day you will be be doing things without thinking about the consequences and this might include buying clothes that you are not really sure about - if and where to wear them. Back at home you are even less sure about your purchase.
Don't. Think about it for a while. It might have been an impulse, but an impulse is always deeply connected to something deep inside of you. The moment you saw that piece was special - you were touched by the colors, the patterns and the feel of the fabric between your fingers. And maybe it was the nice chat with the woman, who sold it to you. It's a great memory of something you experienced.
Don't throw that away. Don't take your holiday-fashion-pieces to the second hand shop straight away. Instead, check out your usual outfits in your wardrobe - they might fit. You will be surprised at how many options there will be. One of them might become your new favourite outfit in your closet. Here are some ideas:
