My Favorite styles for 2020
While the rest of us are (probably) hanging out on the couch eating tons of Christmas cookies, a sparky microcosm of super-stylish ladies is blazing a fashion trail well into 2020. This isn't to make you feel guilty. This is an opportunity to mentally prepare and get you a head start on next year's big trends, so that you can start off January with a stylish bang.
Let’s say, between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve is the best time for chillaxing and browsing through my most trusted fashion magazines and blogs to collect tons of ideas for stylish outfits for the upcoming year.
To prepare you best, I am going to show you my four favorite styles for 2020. These four styles are probably styles for four different kinds of girls, but me, myself, I like to mix them up a bit.
1. From my most trusted street style bloggers, I got inspiration for the easiest and most comfy, but still cool, style. I like to dress very casually in oversized sweaters, stretch pants for ultimate comfort and sneakers – enabling me to conquer the world whenever I want, no matter where I need to go. For style inspiration, I like to check out star blogger, Chiara Ferragni’s, looks. She’s a girl, who knows how to dress easy, comfy and casually.
In 2020, rosé and pink will be a big deal along with fishnet tights, so be brave and pair your jeans with fishnet tights, a sweater and a fake fur coat in pink – turning heads on the street is guaranteed!
So, you think this style is only fine for young girls? Dressing in a casual, comfy style does not mean you’re under 25 or interested in dressing yourself nicely – it means you got some fashion rules and understand street style better than most…
Trying out new street styles from time to time can be awkward, but isn’t this the thing we all love about fashion? Experimenting needs to be your favorite hobby when trying these looks.
2. In contrast to street style, we have the very elegant, high society style. It provides the perfect mix between looking elegant, sophisticated and stylish. Amal Clooney is a nice example for this style, not solely because she is always perfectly dressed.
Pairing perfectly fitting and timeless elegant pieces with simple, but high class accessories, is always a great way to dress. Investing in some basic pieces like a classy leather handbag, a perfect fitting little black dress and some diamond earrings are basics for endless elegance.
Looking professional, but still offering the right punch of personality, is the way to go. This style may teach you that a tweed skirt can look awesome, not outdated. Muted colors are not boring when combined with carefully chosen accessories like a colored handbag or a nice scarf. This look reminds me of timeless style icons every time. Coco Chanel would be proud of you, I am sure.
3. The style for business women is the easy, business casual look in 2020. Wide pants or a suit combination with a double, buttoned blazer are cool looks, but smart enough to look professional. A pencil skirt and blazer combo works well with a simple white t-shirt. It doesn't need to be a classy blouse all the time.
Need to be in the office every day, but you don’t want to wear the same grey, black or marine blue suit every day?
Pair a pencil skirt (reborn in 2020!) with a knit jumper and stilettos and welcome your new work outfit. When going for this style, a more laid-back, less dressed-up aesthetic is the norm.
Culottes are still in fashion in 2020 and are perfect as elegant, but cool trousers.
Jumpsuits are a great alternative to business suits when paired with a suede blazer. A suede blazer will give your outfit the extra kick. Be brave and try some color – who said business women need to dress in muted, boring colors?
4. The casual style I prefer most is the young & hip look, preferably in bold colors, naughty and striking. Graphic t-shirts and step-hem denim combination with pumps are easy, but effective.
I love fishnet stockings! Pair them with velvet sneakers for a special outfit. Blousons or bomber jackets are the new leather jacket. Try one in a bold color like pink, green or blue.
This style might not suit every woman, especially if you're no longer 22. If you don't want to convey the notion that you refuse to grow up, try the first sporty, casual look or the third one, the business casual look.
I definitely have a patchwork jeans obsession and I’m glad they are still totally stylish in 2020, especially when paired with a band shirt, fishnet stockings and eye-catching sneakers. As you may have noticed, fishnets are the way to go. So if you’re feeling brave, I love them styled with a black leather skirt, a turtleneck and classic Doc Martens.
