Modern sportswear to wear every day
It all started out with a whisper of sports and a whole lot of attitude: a cool cap thrown on for good measure, a hoodie left on for extra comfort, a pair of sneakers worn on days that required a lot of walking.
But then the inevitable happened: sports fashion grew up and with it, the lines between style and convenience got blurred.
Although wearing a track suit in public has been quite weird some years ago a change has come – luxury sportswear (for any occasion) is here to stay. Sportswear is now very chic and wearable for every day.
During the last fashion decade, sportswear details like chunky elastic trims or polo collars added a laid-back edge to out wardrobe in a slight process. I’ve seen every famous fashion brand and designer working with functional and definitely fit design flourishes as part of a modern look on the runways.
Last year has been the year that slouchy staples like the hoodie conquered luxury fashion world, just forming the backbone to any modern look.
Why modern? Because sportswear is so easy to wear no matter which day of the week and to almost every occasion. Several street style stars proved that hoodies re super easy to wear without looking bulky and can be added to office friendly looks.
For example, a multi-dimensional piece like an embroidered sports jacket will carry you from office to evening.
It’s been impossible to ignore the athleisure touch which sneaked on the runways. Just think of elasticated yoga leggings or silk parkas… In 2017, designers are shifting away from the full sporty look but just give their pieces a sporty touch.
What you can see is designers who were obviously inspired by more old school sportswear like cricket or horsIn case you did not really follow last year’s jogging pants hype when sportswear collided with ready-to-wear fashion you’ll be happy about the new sporty but practical wearable looks.
What you’ll get now are super comfy tracksuits which – believe me or not – can look chic! Pair tracksuit-style pants with heels, a nice clutch and some accessories and you won’t look like Britney Spears on super bad days!
If you aim for the kind of laid-back gym-ready sports looks that allow you to play it casually cool throughout the day, do invest in a luxe tracksuit. Keep an eye out for edgy prints (think camouflage), luxurious fabrics (think silk), and bright colors. Silk bomber jackets won’t come out of style soon!
Also pointy flats, cool aviators and sexy bralettes are nice to dress up the athletic-inspired suits.
Check out sports inspired tops in fabric and cut, athletic and patterned socks or wide, puffed pants. One of the trends I’m most excited about incorporating into my wardrobe is sporty fashion trend from sneakers paired with dresses to nylon and neoprene. This is universally flattering and easily incorporated into an existing wardrobe. Another one of the major news is the hiking anorak or parka.
Remembering a bit of 90ies fashion, this practical but super chic sportswear piece conquers the runways. Just enjoy the versatility of luxury weatherproof fashion like shell jackets because they actually help defend you against every day struggles like bad weather. When it comes to high-fashion sportswear you should wear it because you love the design flourishes, not because you’ve got an incredibly athletic live. Designers orienting more on classy sportswear bring skirts and shirt combinations reminding me of tennis wear.
Sounds weird but looks classier but still athletic. Adding usual sportswear fabrics like nylon or neoprene on classy cuts and garments creates a fancy but interesting look.
Some also have been inspired from the cool cricket look with tight tops and knickers.
Sportswear trend brings a cool, urban feel or hide a bit grunge flavor but most are hinting to the past decade’s minimal aesthetic. If you want to celebrate luxe sports trend you should look out for supple and simple shapes in soft, natural fabrics like linen, mesh and voile. Also check out delicate bra tops and sporty dresses oozing off-duty-cool, imploring to be layered over mesh tops and complemented with a pair of white sneakers.
Try mixing sporty blousons, sweatshirts and hoodies with airy, floral printed, floor-sweeping skirts and you’ll get an effortless sporty but unique look. The reality is that people still love well-made clothing, but, ideally, clothing they can actually live in. The major benefit is that it doesn’t matter what size you are or how big your budget is, this is a look everyone can take part in.eback riding sports.Say goodbye to subculture sports inspired fashion including skateboarder scene fashion, baseball jackets or super casual jogging pants. Welcome the new modern luxury sportswear!
- Workout Outfits/ indoor
We all know the feeling. We think of summer sun, the beach and hot days, but despite the beautiful pictures gloomy thoughts suddenly sneak in. After the beach pictures in our heads, there are the bikini pictures for the quite positive among us. Dreaming of bikini shopping, inevitably the images of the perfect bikini body let our moods sink to the bottom.
So time to get the old sports clothes out of the closet and go to the gym. But wait, maybe it's time for new colors or a new cut or even patterns? I have researched the latest indoor sportswear and can offer some advice.
As a stylist, I am always up to date and this is true with sportswear as well. I also go to the gym and I know that with the right outfit and appropriate equipment, every woman can enjoy her time there. There are different styles such as, gym outfits, training outfits or the simple sports outfit. The materials are different and you should know them, because it makes exercising more effective and easier.
I'll tell you about the two main types of sportswear.
There are the training clothes, including the term function material. This can be a jogging trouser and a simple t-shirt. Versatility is of most importance. You should be able to walk on the treadmill and sit at the weights. This type of sportswear should not be too tight and pockets are always practical. Your shoes should have a hard sole and non-slip. Cotton is the most commonly used material in training outfits. You should wear a mix of materials, because cotton can quickly become unpleasant and stick to the skin.
The second type of sport wear is the gym or running outfit. These can be spotted by the flexible material. Light and breathable is the motto and you should be able to stretch without tearing or squeezing.
It is important to know what the main difference is between the style and the materials and how they react to perspiration. It is equally important to choose the correct underwear, socks and shoes. Running shoes are always a good choice for both running and training. Going barefoot is only allowed during Pilates or Yoga classes.
I hear most of you now sobbing, but do not worry. Once everything is properly selected, you will not only look excellent in the gym, but also have a great time.
Towards the end of the workout, a towel, drink and music are also needed. As a tip, pay attention to the size of towel. Choose a small one for wiping your brow and a big one for a spontaneous visit to a yoga class.
Be sure to not get sweaty and catch a chill when the sweat cools off. A big towel will help when put over your shoulders.Things you should definitely avoid: jewelry, too tight underwear, baggy pants, slippery shoes on the treadmill and make up!
Meanwhile, choose from the fun sportswear available, including great colors and cuts. Even if you are not self- confident and don't necessarily want to be noticed, there are many unobtrusive colors and you can cover problem zones with the right outfit. A whole industry is committed to this and you can profit from it.
I often see women with old cotton leggings wondering why they are sweating excessively or lacking stamina while running. Wear something flexible with an elastic waistband and nothing will ever press and squeeze again.
Take a day out this spring and find the right outfit. You will notice the difference.
Sport is not a must, but it can be really fun.
