Ladies, hands off my closet!
Dear men, do you remember your first bachelor pad or even your first home without a girlfriend or a wife?
Billiard tables in the living room, the fridge full of beer and wardrobe full of cool clothes? Disorganized, but only for the stranger's eye. The favourite jersey from the triple season easily located, the first leather jacket, the bra collection of girlfriends from the past, the worn out sneakers, favorite cowboy boots and, especially, the favourite t-shirts from all the great holidays with the boys.
The list could go on forever.
And then what happens, is what has to happen: a new woman enters his life.
When a new woman comes into a man's life, it usually does not take long before the woman to tries to get rid of everything that might remind a man of his old girlfriends or whatever she simply doesn’t like. Basically, she cleans outs and detoxes; not her own clothes, of course; but only those of us men!
And so, not only do the photo albums of ex-girlfriends disappear, but also the ancient, leather jackets, the rugby and football shirts, the slightly yellowed t-shirts, all the very cool and trendy pieces from all those years ago, including the worn out boots and sneakers.
I have a very personal story to share from my life. I have, no had, a very cool pair of sweatpants that may have had a few holes. My wife found these sweatpants awful and she made it very obvious for weeks.
Every Saturday I would combine these hole-ridden sweats with hold-ridden-sweatshirts.
One day, though, I couldn't find these pants - and scoured my entire wardrobe from top to bottom. I turned it upside down, so to speak.
When asked about these pants, my wife played stupid at first. She did not know where they were, but then the truth came out: she had actually thrown them away! !! Disposed of them!
What then happened actually served a purpose; such a thing would never happen again. So I simply selected a piece of clothing from her closet that I didn’t like and took it away. Hide, not more. Us men would never think of doing something like that and I'm quite sure that women would never put up with it either!
Because the older you get, the further back the memories and shorter the path to new experiences and adventures becomes. That's why you’re not allowed to get rid of things that were always a part your life.
