Kiss the hand, handsome man!
In addition to strong biceps and sixpacks, women are particularly interested in neat nails on men. Male manicure for hand and feet, so to speak.
But honestly, what real man likes to go to the nail salon? Luckily you don't have to! With these step-by-step instructions, your fingernails are in good hands.
This is how you get your hands and feet in top form:
Manicure instructions for men in 6 steps
Step 1: Cut and file your fingernails
Shorten your (dry) fingernails with clippers. Scissors shatter nails - making them more susceptible to infection. Then shape them with a sandblade or micro-crystal file. How should you file your fingernails properly? Start in the middle and work your way to the sides. Only file in one direction and don't over-do it, less is more. The nail ends with the dome. Wherever you're filing, it will get dusty, so remove the nail dust with a brush afterwards.
Step 2: Remove excess cuticles
Soak your fingertips in soap water for a few minutes. This softens the cuticles and makes it easier to treat them later on. You should not cut the cuticles, but gently push them back, otherwise they will grow back uncontrollably. Use a rosewood stick (should be available at your local pharmacy), to do so. Why Rosewood? This wood is very hard and very dense making the likelihood of splinters getting into the skin, low.
Step 3: Remove the dirt under the nails
Use the tip of the file to remove dirt from under the nails. Start on the outside, push the dirt inward and carefully remove it.
Step 4: Polish the fingernails
Polishing files smooth nail grooves, eliminates corneal residues and makes the nails shiny even without polish. To do this, first remove any unevenness on the nail with the rough side of a polishing file. Then gently draw circles on your nails with the fine side of the polishing file. If that's not enough, some manicure sets contain a colourless nail polish for men.
Step 5: Maintain the cuticle with oil
Swipe along the nail edge of each finger with an oil-care stick. This is worth it because it keeps the cuticles supple and ensures that they do not tear, making the nails always look well-kept. If you do not want to invest in a pen: A drop of olive oil does it too.
Step 6: Remove discolouration
A regular white nail edge looks well-maintained: Just to complete the manicure, once with a nail-white pen, gently go a little under each nail edge. Manicure utensils are available in every well-stocked drugstore and perfumery.
