How to drink like a gentleman - Part 2!
Yesterday I wrote about "How to drink like a Gentleman - Part 1!"
Today follow my rules 6-10! Cheers, gentlemen!
6. Listen to your body while you drink!
If your body tells you to stop drinking, then you should stop. Social signals can be your best friend when you start to feel like you've had too much. If you can't go straight or have a vague language then you have to stop. The last sign to finally stop should be an urge to.. well throw up. … If you do, do NOT start drinking again.
7. Treat drinking like a marathon and not like a race!
Accelerate slowly, especially at work events. You're a grown up; You don't want to be that type that acts crazy in a bar or at a party. Beer is the way to go if you want to drink at a reasonable pace. Most beers have an ABV of 6%, which is lower than a shot of whiskey. If you drink alcohol, you have to drink much slower than with beer.
8. Only drink when you're in a positive mood!
When you go out for a drink with friends, you need a positive attitude. If you feel stressed, angry or frustrated, do not drink alcohol. Men drink more often when they get angry. They think that drinking will help, but science proves that it will only aggravate the situation. It doesn't help to drown your sorrows with alcohol. Liquor can increase stress and anxiety; Alcohol is a depressant and it affects the chemical balance in our brain.
9. What to do if you don't want to drink anything at all?
If you don't want to drink anything, that's fine. But only if you take prescription drugs, or for religious reasons, or if you just don't feel like it. If you still don't want to explain yourself all the time while you're not drinking, ideally you just order a lime with ice in a high ball, so it'll look like a gin and tonic and no one will bother you.
10. Avoid hard liquors on job events!
Avoid hard liquors on work events. If you're at a party that has strong alcohol, you should reduce your intake. Avoid it altogether if you have a low tolerance. What you drink in one situation may not be appropriate in another situation.
Cocktails contain of at least two or more alcoholic ingredients. Depending on the bar, the alcohol content may vary. However, if you are in a working group, wait a few minutes after your first cocktail to see how it affects you. Unfortunately, you need to wait very long!
