Alice Bands - the trendy latest promise
Most of you will surely remember the good old piece, because in the 90's the headband belonged to the absolute basic equipment of the young and the old. Hardly any woman left the house without the padded trend piece. The broader and higher the better - was the motto at the time.
The fashionable crowd and even soon-to-be queens like Kate Middleton are once again wearing Alice bands! I think it''s an exceptionally pretty trend from the Stone Age of the old millennium. Not like fanny packs or cycling shorts, which - you might have noticed - I already got upset about.
Let us now get to the striking headdress, which even I as a man can hardly wait to try on myself. Alice bands are not only a simple way to spice up even the simplest of outfits on desolate days, but there are also many different styles on the market which offer something for every taste and budget. Ready for the trend?
When I think of Alice bands, the first thing that comes to mind is Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl. I'm pretty sure that a similar image of this figure pops up in you're head: the classic dapper girl, wearing a bright polo shirt, the sweater tied around her neck, a simple skirt or a pair of white jeans and a pair of shoes to match the polo. As you may recall, this type of equipment usually includes an Alice band in bright colours to enhance the natural characteristics of the girl. But, everyone is allowed to dress as they please. The real question that needs to be addressed is the fact that Alice bands are an exclusive item for preppy girls. And frankly, that's a bit unfair. This special hair accessory can be used in many different scenarios and it can uniquely match several wardrobes perfectly.
I think the new Alice band trend is sensational! It fits almost every woman, no matter which face shape or hair length. It makes her look prettier, and at least 5 years younger!
Also, the argument “it's childish” does not really count either. They only look childish if the design is very childish and rather made for children - with Mickey Mouse on it. Simple Alice bands or the ones with bows are not!
3 good reasons for the Alice band trend:
1. Padded Alice bands can make a roundish face look longer.
2. An Alice band is the perfect anti aging agent. Rarely does an accessory make you look 5 years younger.
3. You will laugh at Bad-Hair-Days in the future and simply put on a stylish Alice band!
Conclusion: Even boys should wear Alice bands!
David Beckham used to walk around with one for a while and I think he didn't look too bad!
Back to the Future so to say!
