5 Most important Winter Accessories
I tended to think that winter is the most untrendy of all seasons. Why? Because most of the time, when being outside at least, you can’t be that creative with your outfit. I wrap myself in a huge sweater, get my boots and coat on, and voilà, there’s your super warm and comfy, but uncreative winter look. When strolling through the city, I see so many nicely dressed women standing out from the crowd, because they selected a great winter accessory that still keeps you warm.
Wearing fluffy, warm winter accessories will not only protect you against the cold weather, but can also add a plus of cuteness and femininity to your trendylicious look. I decided to invest in some winter accessories myself. Here’s my list of ultimate accessories for freezing days that create a perfect and individual look.
I’ll start with my favorite: the hat, cap or beanie. Although I am totally in love with hats and think women should try them more often, I prefer a beanie in winter. Fun fact: it’s a myth that we lose most of our body heat from an unprotected head. Still, I like to keep my head warm and my hair protected from snow or winter rain. Last year I got a cashmere beanie by COS in light grey and I still love it (yes, so soft!).
My second most favorite accessory is the scarf. I tend to buy huge ones, so I can wrap myself up when it’s drafty in the office and wear them as an alternative to a knitted jacket or cardigan. When outside, I can wrap a scarf over my coat or parka to create a more special outerwear look than just showing off my woolen coat. Best version is to buy a hat and scarf as a set, so you don’t need to check, if the colors fit together. A knitted scarf with a cashmere beanie could look a bit random, too. So even if you don’t buy those pieces in a set, make sure they fit together.
Gloves are important, as well, and thank god there’s a variety of different gloves from which you can choose. I bought myself vintage leather gloves, because they can be combined cool and elegantly. Knitted gloves are also a great choice and leave more space for experimenting with colors. And why not invest in some nice socks?
Who actually said that socks are the most unimportant of all garments? This season it’s totally in fashion to roll your socks over the boot leg of your favorite ankle boots. Paired with this season's metallic fever, I bought myself warm and comfy socks in metallic effect by Falke to wear with sneakers as an eyecatcher when it’s too cold outside to bare naked ankles, but I also pair them with heeled ankle boots. No joke, I need to buy more cool socks, because they are on their way to be this season’s favorite accessory.
Last but not least, big bags are a total basic winter accessory. With voluminous coats, it’s the one and only bag you can wear. A big advantage is that you’re able to stow all your documents, hand creams and lip balms and everything else you need to fight the coldness outside.
